DIY Polishing Bundles for Bench & Angle Grinders
Renegade's 12-Ply DIY Polishing Bundles for Bench & Angle Grinders conveniently combine the Airway Buffing Wheels and Polishing Compounds needed to accomplish a basic 3-step polish on your aluminum and stainless steel surfaces.
Small-scale and DIY projects don't always warrant a robust 16-ply buffing wheel and a full-sized polishing compound bar. Some projects call for the versatility of an angle grinder, and some projects call for the stability of a bench grinder. Each bundle includes one of our 1/2" to 5/8" adapters to help you transition seamlessly between polishing machines.

How to Use the 12-Ply DIY Polishing Bundles:
NOTE:
Safety flanges should always be used when mounting a buffing wheel.
Safety Flanges are meant to reduce the chances warping of the center plate of the buffing wheel. In addition to offering protection against warping, Safety Flanges also help to keep the buffing wheel securely in place.
A buffing wheel rake should be used to prime the buffing wheel to accept compound and to free the buffing wheel of build-up when necessary.
- For aluminum, mount the Orange Airway Buffing Wheel onto your machine for the first step. Pair the Orange Airway Buffing Wheel with the Brown T121 Fast-Cutting Compound Bar for your cut stage. For stainless steel, pair the Red Airway Buffing Wheel with the Black Magic Cutting Compound Bar. Typically, the first/cut stage is done around 3,000 RPMs.
- For the second "coloring" stage on aluminum, pair the Yellow Airway Buffing Wheel with the True Green Coloring Compound Bar. For steel, pair the Pink Airway Buffing Wheel with the Yellow Deluxe Polishing Compound. These combinations are meant to refine the first step and add luster to your project surface. The second step should be done around 2,500 RPMs.
- For the third "final polish" on aluminum, employ the Flannel Airway Buffing Wheel and pair it with the Competition Purple Finishing Compound Bar to gain a mirror-like shine on your project. To finish steel, pair the UBM (Unbleached Muslin) wheel with the Blue Rouge Polishing Compound. In most cases, the finishing step is done at or below 1,800 RPMs.
Pro Tips:
- Safety is paramount. We strongly recommend wearing a respirator when polishing metal surfaces. Our recommended Full Face Respirator for metal polishing, priced at $100, offers excellent protection to ensure your well-being during the polishing process.
- The use of gloves is recommended to help keep your hands clean while also helping to provide some protection from the moving machine and pads.
