    WICKED METAL POLISH

    What is Metal Polish ?

    Metal polish is a product that cleans and enhances metal surfaces. This can be used on all types of metals such as brass, copper, aluminum, stainless steel, silver, or gold. Metal polish works to remove oxidation, stains, and tarnish while polishing even brighter and leaving you with the best finish. The way these products work is from the small abrasive particles that are embedded into the formula. Often, metal polishes are a paste-like consistency and these abrasive particles help to remove unwanted contaminants and leave you with luster and shine on the metal's surface.

    What Ingredients are found in Metal Polish?

    There are different brands and types of metal polishes to be found on the market today; however, ingredients that can be commonly found in majority of metal polishes are;

    • Solvents are found in metal polishes because they help to remove dirt, grime, and grease.
    • Surfactants help to clean the metal evenly due to its surface-active agents.
    • Abrasives ,as mentioned earlier, are found in metal polishes to remove imperfections from the surface.
    • Binders can be found in these products because it helps to adhere to the metal and provides durability.
    • Lubricants are sometimes added to metal polishes to prevent overheating or scratching when polishing the surface.
    • Wax or sealants may be found in these products as well to improve protection and to repel dirt.
    • Corrosion inhibitors help to prevent further oxidation and also leaves a thin protective barrier to protect the surface after polishing.

    How to Use Metal Polish?

    Although different metal polishes may vary when it comes  to instructions, some general steps to follow when using these products are as follows;

    1. First, you will want to make sure you have a clean and prepped surface. You can do this by washing the surface with soap and water or with a metal cleaner.
    2. Once you have washed the surface, make sure to dry thoroughly before proceeding.
    3. Start by adding a small dime sized amount of metal polish to a soft microfiber cloth, applicator pad, or polishing tool.
    4. A tip is to work in small sections in order to get an even finish.
    5. Apply in a circular motion with moderate pressure to ensure you are effectively cleaning the metal.
    6. Once you are satisfied with the look, use a clean microfiber cloth to buff the surface and remove excess product.
    7. Repeat the process if the surface is heavily scratched/tarnished.
    8. Give the surface a final wipe down with a clean cloth for a nice finish.
